Global Forum is where GS1 unites to shape the future.
17-20 February will GS1 Member Organisation (MO) staff and board members meet-up for the annual Global Forum event, the purpose of the event is to align on their common vision, strategies and empower MOs to drive initiatives that make local and global impact for the benefit of industries, consumers and patients worldwide. This is the first time since 2016, the event will take place in one location and will offer extraordinary networking opportunities.
We will be on stage showcasing a demo of DPP
On 17 February, we will be on stage to present our Vinnova project in Advanced Digitisation, which we are running together with Ahlsell and GS1. We will showcase a new way of making use of the DPP structure to not only gain DPP data but also enabling downstream transactions to be written to the individual product. Events can be things like washing, changing a zipper for lifecycle traceability purposes.

What does GS1 do?
GS1 is a non-profit global organization that develops and maintains supply chain standards used by businesses worldwide. Most famously, GS1 created the barcode system that revolutionized retail and logistics. Today, GS1 standards are the most widely used system of standards in the world. GS1’s traceability standards ensure that products can be accurately tracked from production to end consumer. This helps businesses prevent counterfeiting, recall unsafe products efficiently, and meet regulatory compliance. GS1 has member organizations in more than 118 countries, more than two million users and over 10 billion transactions per day – ensuring that there is a common language of business around the world. GS1 brings together industry leaders, governments, regulators, academia and associations to develop standards-based solutions to address the challenges of information exchange.
Why we collaborate with GS1
Working closely with GS1 gives us the latest information and updates on what is happening in standards and data management. We collaborate in the development of DPP standards giving us the opportunity to both drive and quickly adjust for new or changed standards as they evolve. We have also been involved in various projects together with GS1, which has given us a good collaborative-based knowledge and understanding of interoperability and the values of standards, which we value and are grateful for.
